State Common Entrance Test Cell, Government of Maharashtra ನಡೆಸುತ್ತದೆ
MHT-CET (the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test) is a state-level entrance examination conducted by the State CET Cell, Government of Maharashtra, for admission to professional degree courses in the state. It runs in two groups. The PCM group, for engineering and technology, tests Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The PCB group, for pharmacy, agriculture and allied courses, tests Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany and Zoology). Physics and Chemistry form a shared 100-question paper worth one mark each, Mathematics is 50 questions worth two marks each, and Biology is 100 questions worth one mark each, so each group totals 200 marks over three hours. The test is computer-based with multiple-choice questions and, importantly, has no negative marking. The syllabus follows the Maharashtra State Board (Balbharati) higher-secondary curriculum, with about twenty percent of the questions drawn from Class 11 and about eighty percent from Class 12. From 2026 the exam moved to a two-session format (April and May) with the better of the two percentiles retained for admission. Scores are normalised into percentiles that feed the Centralised Admission Process for seat allotment.
For the PCM (engineering) group: candidates must have passed or be appearing for HSC (Class 12) with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with Chemistry, Biology, Vocational or Technical subject, and at least the qualifying marks required (relaxed for reserved categories). For the PCB (pharmacy and agriculture) group: HSC with Physics and Biology, along with Chemistry or Mathematics. Candidates must meet the domicile and category conditions of the Maharashtra CAP. Confirm exact percentage and subject conditions against the live State CET Cell notification.
Conducted by the State CET Cell once a year historically, and from 2026 in two sessions (April and May) with best-of-two percentile. In 2026, Session 1 PCM ran 11 to 20 April and PCB 21 to 26 April, with Session 2 in May. Treat 2027 dates as tentative (expected April and May 2027) until the official notification is published.
