The CUET (ICAR-UG) 2026 cycle closed with ICAR mop-up allotment on 22 August 2026, so preparation now targets 2027: the pattern, the paper codes, and the separate ICAR counselling step.

Undergraduate agriculture admission at ICAR-affiliated agricultural universities is made on CUET (UG) domain scores under the CUET (ICAR-UG) scheme, and has been since 2023, that is session 2023-24. CUET is the Common University Entrance Test (Undergraduate), conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Be clear about which cycle you are preparing for. As of September 2026 the 2026 cycle is closed: NTA declared the CUET (UG) 2026 result on 23 June 2026 and ICAR finished its mop-up round allotment on 22 August 2026. If you are starting now you are preparing for the 2027 cycle, which has not been notified yet, so the 2026 dates in this guide are the completed-cycle reference to plan against. ICAR's own counselling portal published a schedule for online registration for CUET (ICAR-UG) 2026 and nothing else, so anyone still searching for a separate ICAR AIEEA UG entrance will not find one in the 2026-27 flow.
Our own CUET UG syllabus reference records the Agriculture domain paper as the paper used for CUET (ICAR-UG) admission to BSc (Hons) Agriculture and allied streams, and our Biology reference records the same route for agriculture and biology BSc programmes. The accepted combination differs by university and by programme, so confirm yours on the university admission notice for the current cycle before you lock your paper set.
Both, and this is where most aggregator pages go quiet. CUET (ICAR-UG) is a two-step route. First you register for and sit CUET (UG), attempting at least 3 of the 5 subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology and Agriculture. Then you register again, separately, on the ICAR counselling portal.
ICAR builds its own rank list from your CUET scores and allots All India Quota seats across 13 UG programmes at State Agricultural Universities. Missing that second registration is the most expensive mistake on this route, because a strong CUET score with no ICAR counselling registration is allotted nothing at all. Track the dates yourself on the ICAR counselling portal: NTA declares the CUET result, but ICAR runs the seat allotment.
| Step in the 2026-27 cycle | Run by | Date |
|---|---|---|
| CUET (UG) 2026 result declared | NTA | 23 June 2026 |
| ICAR counselling consent window opens | ICAR | 17 July 2026 |
| Mop-up round allotment | ICAR | 22 August 2026 |
Those are the 2026-27 dates as published on the counselling portal, and they are a shape to plan against rather than a promise for the next cycle. Treat them as a planning guide and confirm the 2027-28 schedule when it is notified.
Every CUET (UG) paper is uniform, the Agriculture and Biology domain papers included: 50 questions in 60 minutes, all compulsory, with plus 5 for a correct answer, minus 1 for a wrong answer and 0 for an unattempted one, so each paper carries 250 marks. It is a computer-based test.
| Element | CUET (UG) domain paper (Agriculture and Biology included) |
|---|---|
| Questions | 50, all compulsory |
| Duration | 60 minutes |
| Correct answer | plus 5 marks |
| Wrong answer | minus 1 mark |
| Unattempted | 0 |
| Maximum marks per paper | 250 |
| Mode | Computer-based test (CBT) |
| Mediums offered | 13 languages, including English and Hindi |
Two corrections worth making now, as of the 2026 cycle. The older option to attempt 40 of 50 questions no longer exists, so all 50 questions count. And several aggregator sites still print 45 minutes as the domain-paper duration; that is a legacy value, and the current NTA standard is 60 minutes. Check both against the live NTA information bulletin each cycle, because that bulletin is the only document that governs your paper.
On the official NTA CUET (UG) 2026 syllabus the Agriculture domain paper is numbered 302 and the Biology domain paper is numbered 304. Some ICAR-style and older listings number the same Agriculture paper 307, and the ICAR-UG information bulletin references the same NCERT-based Biology paper as 315. The syllabus behind each pair of numbers is identical.
| Domain paper | Official NTA 2026 code | Also seen as |
|---|---|---|
| Agriculture | 302 | 307, in some ICAR-style and older listings |
| Biology / Biological Studies / Biotechnology | 304 | 315, in the ICAR-UG information bulletin |
The codes matter at exactly one moment: filling the application form. Enter the code your university admission notice names. If that notice quotes 307 or 315 while the NTA portal shows 302 or 304, you are looking at one paper under two numbering schemes, not at two different papers. The code list and the topic text are published in the official NTA CUET (UG) 2026 syllabus PDF set, which is the source our subject references are transcribed from.
For most BSc Agriculture and allied programmes the two load-bearing domain papers are Agriculture and Biology, usually with Chemistry, and with Physics or Mathematics depending on the university. CUET lets you pick up to 5 of its 23 domain subjects, but for agriculture more papers is not the win.
Choose papers you actually studied in class 11 and class 12. CUET rewards depth on a small set: 4 papers prepared to NCERT-level recall beat 5 papers half-read, because every paper is scored on the same 250-mark scale and one weak paper drags down the aggregate the university reads. Add the General Test only if your programme requires it, and check that requirement on the admission notice rather than on a coaching page.
Work the official syllabus in its own four units rather than a coaching site topic list. The NTA Agriculture (302) syllabus is organised as Unit 1, agrometeorology, genetics and plant breeding, biochemistry and microbiology with seed science; Unit 2, livestock production; Unit 3, crop production; and Unit 4, horticulture. Everything examinable sits inside those 4 units.
A practical order. Build Unit 1 first, because genetics, biochemistry and seed science overlap directly with the Biology paper, so one block of study pays for two papers. Then take Unit 3, the largest unit in practice: soil and soil fertility, fertilizers and manures, irrigation and drainage, weed control, and the crop-wise package of practices for rice, wheat, maize, sorghum, pearl millet, groundnut, mustard, pigeon-pea, gram, sugarcane, cotton and berseem. Finish with Unit 4 horticulture (orchard layout, propagation, fruit and vegetable preservation) and Unit 2 livestock (breeds, feeding, housing, artificial insemination, common cattle and poultry diseases, dairy and fisheries).
One correction our syllabus work turned up, and it is the sort of thing that quietly wastes weeks. Aggregator sites commonly list Agricultural Engineering and Agricultural Economics and Extension as standalone Agriculture units. They are not standalone units in the official NTA syllabus: that framing is drawn from older, broader ICAR-style syllabi. The genuinely examinable engineering and economics material sits inside Unit 3, as soil conservation and soil erosion control, watershed management, methods of irrigation and drainage, tillage and sowing methods, post-harvest technology, remote sensing, precision agriculture, conservation agriculture, natural and organic farming, and the foodgrain-production and commercialisation context. Study those items and do not write yourself a farm-machinery syllabus the paper will never ask.
The Biology domain paper (304) is the NCERT class 11 and class 12 corpus, and the official CUET syllabus explicitly integrates both years. Master the NCERT text before any reference book: CUET Biology stays close to it, and for most candidates the fastest score gain is closing recall gaps in text they have already read once.
Cover it in seven blocks: diversity of living organisms and structural organisation; cell structure, function and cell division; plant physiology; human physiology; genetics and evolution; reproduction; and biology in human welfare with biotechnology and ecology. Two blocks repay extra drilling because they carry the calculation and diagram questions that separate scores: genetics (Mendelian ratios, linkage and crossing over, the Hardy-Weinberg principle, pedigree reading) and plant physiology (photosynthesis pathways, the respiratory balance sheet, the C3 and C4 comparison). Agriculture aspirants get a bonus here, because Unit 1 of the Agriculture paper revises the same genetics and biochemistry.
On the arithmetic, yes. With 4 options a blind guess earns plus 5 in 1 case out of 4 and loses 1 mark in 3 cases out of 4, so its expected value is 0.25 times 5 minus 0.75 times 1, which is plus 0.5 marks per guess.
Eliminating 1 option lifts that to about plus 1 mark per guess, and eliminating 2 options lifts it to plus 2 marks. A blank scores 0, so leaving a question is the only choice with no upside at all.
The real caution is variance, not expectation. At 5 marks a question a run of wrong guesses swings a 250-mark paper hard, and 50 questions is a short enough sample that the long-run average need not show up on the day. So the working rule is: attempt everything where you can cut at least 1 option, attempt freely where you can cut 2, and treat a genuine coin-flip as a small positive bet rather than a blunder. What you must not do is misread the marking as guess-hostile and hand back 10 or 15 questions you could have played.
Take at least 10 to 15 full papers in each chosen domain under exam conditions. Mocks do three jobs that reading cannot. They train the 50-in-60 pace, so 72 seconds a question stops feeling like a stopwatch and starts feeling normal.
They expose recall gaps against the NCERT text and the official Agriculture units, which is where most lost marks actually live. And they calibrate how aggressively you can attempt, which is the number you need before the guessing maths above is of any use to you.
Analyse every paper: log each wrong answer as a recall gap, a concept gap or a misread, and re-study that weak block from the syllabus in the same week. On Quiz4Exam the CUET UG test series currently carries full-length papers in the General Test, English, Hindi, Accountancy, Business Studies, Economics, History, Political Science, Geography and Psychology, each in English and Hindi. Agriculture and Biology papers are not in that series today, so use it to rehearse the CUET format itself, the 50 questions in 60 minutes and the plus 5 and minus 1 marking, and build your Agriculture and Biology recall from the NCERT text and the official Agriculture units. You can start with the free CUET UG mock tests before buying anything.
The 2026 cycle is closed, so plan for 2027. Agriculture UG admission at ICAR-affiliated universities has run on CUET (UG) domain scores under the CUET (ICAR-UG) scheme since 2023. Sit CUET attempting at least 3 of the 5 permitted subjects, then register separately on the ICAR counselling portal for the 13 UG programmes it allots. Pick the Agriculture (302) and Biology (304) papers your university names, allowing for the 307 and 315 numbering used in some ICAR listings. Build Agriculture from its 4 official units and Biology from NCERT class 11 and class 12. Attempt with the marking scheme understood rather than feared, and finish on 10 to 15 timed full papers. Mathematically yes. Over 4 options a blind guess is worth 0.25 times 5 minus 0.75 times 1, that is plus 0.5 marks on average, and eliminating options raises it further. The caution is variance, not expectation: at 5 marks a question a run of wrong guesses swings a 250-mark paper hard.
