Conducted by Karnataka State Police, DGP Recruitment Wing, Bengaluru (recruitment), with the written examination conducted and evaluated by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA)
Karnataka Armed Police Constable recruitment by the Karnataka State Police, covering the Armed Police Constable (CAR/DAR) and Special Reserve Police Constable (KSRP, KSISF and IRB) posts - 3,914 posts across four notifications in the 2026-27 drive. A single written examination of 100 objective questions for 100 marks in 90 minutes, offline OMR, one mark per question with 0.25 deducted for a wrong answer. The paper is one undivided General Studies booklet covering general knowledge, science, geography, history, the Constitution of India, the national freedom movement, mental ability and moral education, printed in Kannada and English on the same page. The written exam is the stage that counts toward merit; the Physical Standard Test and Endurance Test that follow are qualifying. IMPORTANT ABOUT THE TABLE BELOW: the real paper declares NO sections and prints no per-subject counts. The split shown here is the measured subject WEIGHTING of 600 questions across six real armed papers, which is what our mocks reproduce; it is a guide to what to study, not a claim that the booklet is divided. Note also that the armed paper is NOT the civil constable paper: it carries more general awareness and more Karnataka content, a markedly heavier and more volatile science block, and a smaller mental-ability section.
PUC / Class 12 or equivalent. Armed Police Constable (CAR/DAR) posts are for men only; Special Reserve Police Constable (KSRP and KSISF) posts are open to men and women, with IRB posts for men. Pay scale Rs 37,500 to Rs 76,100.
2026-27 cycle: Armed Police Constable (CAR/DAR) notifications 04/RECT-5(A) and 04/RECT-5(B) for 1,421 and 179 posts, applications 22 June to 24 July 2026, written examination 6 September 2026 from 10:30 to 12:00. Special Reserve Police Constable notifications 03/RECT-3(B) and 07/RECT-3(B) for 1,455 and 859 posts, applications 13 July to 11 August 2026, written examination 20 September 2026. The qualifying Kannada Language Test for the armed cycle was held on 22 August 2026. Every stage of the 2026-27 cycle listed above has already been held; both written examinations were conducted in September 2026. The next drive is expected to follow the Karnataka State Police recruitment calendar, which for the armed stream has run roughly a year apart; treat that as an estimate and confirm on the KEA portal and ksp-recruitment.in.
