MH SET 2026 is on 25.10.2026 and the admit card is out on 15.10.2026 from 10:00. The exam was postponed from 26.07.2026, so the prospectus PDF is stale. Full pattern inside.

The MH SET 2026 exam date is 25.10.2026, a Sunday, and the MH SET 2026 admit card is available from 15.10.2026, 10:00 on the official portal setexam.unipune.ac.in. Both dates come from the live Important Dates page of the 41st Maharashtra State Eligibility Test, read on 8 October 2026. Applications are closed: the window shut on 03.07.2026 without a late fee and on 23.07.2026 with the Rs 500 late fee, and the correction window ended on 26.07.2026.
One warning first. The live Important Dates page now gives 25.10.2026 where the older July prospectus gave 26.07.2026, so the exam has moved, and the prospectus PDF on the same portal is still headed "SET JULY 2026", still printing 26.07.2026 as the exam date with admit cards on 17.07.2026. Anyone quoting 26 July is reading a superseded document: the official Important Dates page governs. Below: that table, the Paper I and Paper II pattern, the marking scheme, the medium, and what MH SET does and does not qualify you for.
The MH SET 2026 admit card is released on 15.10.2026 from 10:00 on setexam.unipune.ac.in, 7 days from 8 October 2026 and 10 days before the exam on 25.10.2026. It is a website download only, so print it the day it appears and check your name, subject, centre address and both session timings against your application at once: the correction window closed on 26.07.2026, so a mismatch has to be raised with the SET unit, not edited online.
Here is the full Important Dates table for the 41st MH SET, read on the official portal on 8 October 2026.
| Stage | Date | Time |
|---|---|---|
| Online application opens (without late fee) | 02.06.2026 | 11:00 |
| Last date for applying online (without late fee) | 03.07.2026 | 18:00 |
| Application with late fee of Rs 500 | 13.07.2026 to 23.07.2026 | 18:00 |
| Correction in the online application form | 24.07.2026 to 26.07.2026 | 18:00 |
| Admit card available on the website | 15.10.2026 | 10:00 |
| Date of SET examination | 25.10.2026 |
For the record, the closed fee stage charged Open candidates Rs 800 (Rs 1,300 late) and reserved, EWS and PwD candidates Rs 650 (Rs 1,150 late). The PwD concession needed 40 per cent or more disability plus a Maharashtra or Goa domicile.
MH SET 2026 is on 25.10.2026, moved from 26.07.2026. The Important Dates page carries the new date, and the admit-card row moved with it from 17.07.2026 to 15.10.2026. Any official reason would appear in the 41st SET corrigendum notice carried on the portal, which is the notice to check before trusting a third-party explanation.
What matters is which document you are reading. The prospectus for this cycle was issued as "SET JULY 2026" and never re-headed, so coaching pages and aggregators that copied it still print the July schedule. When two official pages disagree, the live Important Dates page is the one that governs.
MH SET has two papers on the same day, for 150 questions and 300 marks in total. Paper I is 50 questions and 100 marks in 1 hour, from 10:00 to 11:00. Paper II is 100 questions and 200 marks in 2 hours, from 11:30 to 13:30. Every question carries 2 marks, every question is compulsory, and each question has four options. The two sessions are not continuous: Paper I ends at 11:00 and Paper II begins at 11:30, a gap of 30 minutes, so the day spans 10:00 to 13:30 while the exam time itself is 3 hours.
| Paper | Questions | Marks | Duration | Timing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Paper I (general, first session) | 50 | 100 | 1 hour | 10:00 to 11:00 |
| Paper II (subject, second session) | 100 | 200 | 2 hours | 11:30 to 13:30 |
| Total | 150 | 300 | 3 hours of exam time | 10:00 to 13:30 |
Paper I is general and common to every subject: teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness. Paper II is 100 questions on the one subject you chose when you applied, out of the 32 subjects in which MH SET is conducted, and both papers follow the UGC NET and UGC-CSIR-NET syllabi. One subject has its own rule: Mathematical Science candidates (subject code 30) must attempt all 100 questions either from Sections I and II, or from Sections I and III, and an OMR sheet with questions attempted from both Section II and Section III is rejected.
No. MH SET has no negative marking in either paper. A correct answer earns 2 marks, and a wrong answer or a blank both score zero, so a blank can never score better than a guess. With 150 compulsory questions and four options each, use the last 5 minutes of each session to shade a circle for every question you have not answered: there is no penalty, there is no partial marking, and an unshaded question is a guaranteed zero out of 2 marks.
MH SET is offline. It is an OMR, pen-and-paper exam, not a computer-based test, which is a real difference from UGC NET. You shade one circle out of four alternatives per question, and the paper is printed in four booklet codes, A, B, C and D, so copy your code onto the OMR sheet exactly as printed.
The medium of the question paper is English and Marathi only, except for the language papers. Hindi is not a medium of MH SET: it appears only as a subject (code 02). If a translated question reads ambiguously, the English version is treated as final, so when a sentence feels off, re-read the English before you commit your answer.
Clearing MH SET makes you eligible for Assistant Professor posts, and that is all. MH SET does not award the Junior Research Fellowship, unlike UGC NET, so no JRF stipend follows from this exam. The certificate is valid for Maharashtra and Goa, the two states for which this SET is conducted.
MH SET is conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University as the State Agency for the Government of Maharashtra, and the agency is accredited by the UGC. Per UGC directives there is no re-evaluation and no re-checking of questions after the SET result.
Spend the remaining days on Paper I, the only paper you can lift quickly. It is 100 of the 300 marks, it is common to all 32 subjects, and its syllabus is fixed and finite: teaching aptitude, research aptitude, comprehension, communication, mathematical reasoning, logical reasoning, data interpretation, ICT, people and environment, and the higher education system. Paper II rewards years of subject study, Paper I rewards two weeks of drilling.
Practise on the real shape of the paper. Our MH SET Paper I full mock series runs 50 questions and 100 marks in 1 hour with 2 marks per question and no negative marking, exactly as the 25.10.2026 paper is set, and our MH SET Paper I previous-year pattern papers are modelled on the official question papers and answer keys that the portal publishes for 14 past sittings. For a week-by-week plan across both papers, read our MH SET 2026 preparation strategy guide. Then do the dull things: download the admit card on 15.10.2026, map the centre address before 25.10.2026, and do one full 10:00 to 13:30 dry run at home.
The MH SET 2026 admit card is released on 15.10.2026 from 10:00 on setexam.unipune.ac.in, 10 days before the exam on 25.10.2026. It is a website download only, so print it the day it appears and check your name, subject, centre and both session timings at once, because the application correction window closed on 26.07.2026.
The MH SET 2026 exam date is 25.10.2026, a Sunday. Paper I runs from 10:00 to 11:00 and Paper II from 11:30 to 13:30 on the same day. This is the 41st Maharashtra State Eligibility Test, conducted by Savitribai Phule Pune University as the State Agency for the Government of Maharashtra.
MH SET 2026 was moved from 26.07.2026 to 25.10.2026 on the official Important Dates page, and the admit-card row moved with it from 17.07.2026 to 15.10.2026. The Important Dates page itself gives no explanation, and any official reason would appear in the 41st SET corrigendum notice on the portal. The prospectus PDF is still headed SET JULY 2026 and still shows the old schedule, which is why stale July dates keep circulating.
No, MH SET has no negative marking in either paper. A correct answer earns 2 marks, while a wrong answer and a blank both score zero. All 150 questions are compulsory and each has four options, so eliminating down to two options and marking a reasoned guess is always better than leaving a circle unshaded.
